Circle just moved $4.4 billion in USDC and almost nobody noticed
Late last night Circle transferred 4.397 billion USDC, about $4.4 billion, to a Coinbase controlled wallet in a single transaction. Arkham flagged it as the largest single on-chain USDC transfer ever recorded. The transaction settled on HyperEVM, Hyperliquid's smart contract layer, with zero fees. Block 37,597,797 if anyone wants to look it up. This is not random. Coinbase recently became Hyperliquid's USDC treasury deployer under the Aligned Quote Asset framework announced in May, with Circle handling the technical deployment side. The goal is making USDC the sole quote asset on Hyperliquid, phasing out USDH entirely. What stands out to me is the zero fee part. $4.4 billion moved instantly with no cost. Traditional finance has nothing that compares to this at this scale. A wire transfer of this size would involve multiple intermediaries, settlement delays, and fees. This is also a strong signal for HyperEVM specifically. When the second largest stablecoin issuer routes its largest transaction ever through your network, that says something about infrastructure confidence. Curious what others think this means for Hyperliquid's position going forward, especially with HYPE still down significantly from its all time high.
